Species and grade
What species does Floors Toronto supply?
European white oak only, across straight plank, herringbone, and chevron. 3/4 inch European white oak, stain match when you order, supply from $4/sq ft.
What is the difference between Grade AB and Grade ABC?
Grade AB is the clean field. Grade ABC keeps knots and mineral streaks. Same construction, not a durability swap. The grade guide compares them at length.
What plank widths and pattern sizes are milled?
Straight plank at 7½, 9¼, and 10¼ inches. Herringbone is 5 by 25 inches. Chevron is 5 by 25½ inches.
Humidity
What holds indoor humidity in range?
A humidifier in winter and air conditioning in summer are what hold an occupied room near 35–55% relative humidity. The seasonal swing is on the humidity guide and the engineered-versus-solid guide.
How many times can the floor be refinished?
Typically one to three cycles, depending on wear-layer thickness and whether the room stays in range. The refinishing guide carries the longer version.
Stain
How many sample rounds does a stain match take?
Usually one or two physical rounds, once you have placed an order. It is not offered as a service before an order. The stain-matching guide is the long version.
Can the stain match an existing floor?
It depends on age, wear, and fading, and it is judged on a site visit.
Install method
Which install method fits the subfloor?
Condo concrete is glue-down or floating with acoustic underlay. A plywood house can take glue-down, floating, or nail-down. See install methods.
Condo
What happens on a condo slab before glue-down?
The slab is moisture-tested before glue-down. Board paperwork, the elevator, and insurance are on the condo guide and the condo installation page.
Cost
Why does a pattern cost more than straight plank?
Straight plank is generally less per square foot than herringbone or chevron because waste and labour differ. The quote is itemised within one business day. The cost guide holds the planning bands.
