The colour is struck on a full-width European white oak board, not a paper chip.
Daylight
You sign off matte or satin under the light at the project.
The batch
Production runs that formula. The match is included when you order.
Samples ship in 5–7 business days after the reference is accepted. Refinement continues until that reference is matched. It is not an open-ended programme. Production timing is confirmed with the order.

Named tones, then your sample.
These are colours already installed. A custom tone, including grey, starts here and moves to your reference.

Porcelain, marble, limestone, or terrazzo, so an open plan does not break tone.

Upholstery, leather, or drapery can be the target.
A brand colour
Hospitality and retail can share one formula across more than one address.
The floor next door
New oak matched to an existing floor, so adjoining rooms do not break tone.

Multi-light review
Daylight and evening light at the project address, so the undertone is the one you live with.
Sheen
Matte or satin UV aluminum oxide, so the reflection matches the rest of the oak.

We reply within one business day. If the job includes install, the reply separates supply from the method and the subfloor. If you want samples, we send them on the real oak. If a site measure is needed, we book it from that reply.
If you chose a colour photo, email the file to tymur@floorstoronto.ca with your name so the match can start. The form stores the file name, not the picture.
Is custom stain matching really free at Floors Toronto?
Yes. It is included when you place an engineered hardwood order. It is not a separate fee, and it is not offered as a standalone service before an order. Supply of the oak starts at $4 CAD per square foot. Install is quoted separately.
What references can I use for a custom stain match?
A cabinet door, stair tread, paint chip, photo, fabric, tile, or an existing floor. Benjamin Moore, Farrow & Ball, and Sherwin-Williams codes are accepted. The stain is still mixed on real European white oak, because a paint chip and a board do not read the same.
How many sample rounds are included in the free stain matching service?
Refinement continues until the approved reference is matched on European white oak. It is a small number of rounds, not an open-ended programme. Once you approve, that formula is the batch that gets installed.
Can custom stain matching be used for large commercial flooring projects?
Yes. Residential and commercial orders both include it. The approved formula is archived to the purchase order so multi-room and multi-suite deliveries stay on that batch.
How long does the custom stain matching process take?
Quote replies land within one business day. After the colour reference is accepted, stain samples on European white oak typically ship in 5–7 business days to a Toronto or GTA address. Production timing is confirmed with the order.
Does custom stain matching work on all Floors Toronto products?
Yes. Straight plank in 7½, 9¼, and 10¼ inch, plus herringbone and chevron, in Grade AB and Grade ABC. The match is on the European white oak you order. The specification is on the engineered hardwood page.
Can you match millwork or cabinets?
Yes. Bring a door or a piece of moulding when you can. The sample is struck on the same European white oak species that will be installed, then approved before the batch is locked.
Can you match Benjamin Moore, Farrow & Ball, or Sherwin-Williams colours?
Yes. A paint code is a valid reference. The colour is still approved on a real oak board, under the light in the room, because pigment on a card is not pigment in the grain.
Can engineered oak be matched to existing solid hardwood?
Often, when the species and the sheen are workable. Expect a close architectural match on grain and tone, not a promise that two different woods will be identical. The sample is what you approve.
Is free custom stain matching the same as refinishing?
