A house installation: nail-down belongs on plywood. A slab in the same house, a basement or a radiant room, is glue-down or floating. Stairs are in the quote when the house needs them.

(02) — The deck

The subfloor can change room by room.

It fits

The deck is sound plywood or OSB, in a detached house, a semi, or a townhouse. Stairs, landings, and transitions are listed before the first plank. Widths we supply are 7 1/2, 9 1/4, and 10 1/4 inch.

(03) — The process

A house is worked room by room.

There is no condo board on a house. The subfloor can still change from room to room.

  1. We check each room. Plywood or OSB can be nailed. A concrete basement or addition is glued or floated. We never put a nail into concrete.

  2. Moisture and flatness come before the first board. If an old floor has to come up, or the floor needs levelling, that is its own line on the quote. Stairs and doorway pieces are listed before we start.

  3. Boards sit in the house, with heat and air conditioning at the settings you live with, until they are near 35–55% humidity.

  4. Nails go into the wood floors. Glue or a floating floor covers the concrete rooms. If you are living in the house, we finish one area at a time so the rest can stay in use.

The oak can already be yours.

If it is hardwood, we can install it. Send the brand, the type, the square feet, and a photo of the box label. We look at the product and the subfloor before we name a method. Laminate and vinyl are not on this list.

What is house hardwood installation in Toronto?

Nail-down on plywood or OSB in a detached house, a semi, or a townhouse. A slab in the same house is glue-down or floating. Stairs are listed when the house needs them.

Can you nail engineered hardwood to a basement slab?

No. Concrete cannot take a nail. That room is glue-down or floating. Solid hardwood cannot go on concrete.

Are stairs part of a house install?

Stairs and transitions are itemised when the quote lists them, in the same stain batch. They are not assumed.

Do you work around other trades?

Yes. Occupied houses are sequenced room by room so the rest of the home can stay in use. The floor goes in after the dusty work when the schedule allows it.

Does a house need a condo board package?

No. A house does not wait on a condo board. A certificate of insurance is issued on request within 24 hours when a property manager asks for one.

Does Floors Toronto install hardwood it did not supply?

Yes, when the product is hardwood. We inspect it and the subfloor before we commit to a method. Laminate and vinyl are not on the list. Our 5-year workmanship warranty covers the installation we do. The manufacturer’s warranty stays with the manufacturer.
