9¼ inch is the usual GTA wide pick: fewer seams, still livable in an open plan. Hamilton, Warm Buff.
Wider faces need the same flatness and the same humidity. Winter often sits at 20–30% RH. Unmanaged summers can reach 60–70%. Occupied rooms do best near 35–55%. Width does not choose the fastening method.

9¼ inch
Open plans and most GTA houses. Fewer seams than 7½, without demanding a lobby. The usual wide specification for a combined living room and kitchen.
10¼ inch
Lofts, long living rooms, and lobbies, where the seam should nearly disappear. Rosedale and Forest Hill open plans sometimes step up to it. Reserve it for a room that can hold the length, on a flat substrate.
Either grade
AB or ABC on any of the three widths. AB is the quiet field. ABC keeps the knots. The UV finish and the included stain match do not change with the face.

What wide plank hardwood widths does Floors Toronto offer in Toronto?
European white oak engineered straight plank at 7½, 9¼, and 10¼ inch face widths, all at 3/4 inch thickness. Grade AB and Grade ABC are available on each width. Stain matching is included with the order.
Which plank width works best for a Toronto condo?
Many suites use 7½ or 9¼ inch, where short walls and corridor turns make a 10¼ inch face feel oversized. Open houses and loft living rooms are where 9¼ or 10¼ inch earns its length. Room length and furniture matter as much as the square footage.
Is wide plank hardwood stable in Toronto humidity?
The cross-ply birch core is built for the swing: indoor RH often drops to 20–30% in a heated winter and can rise toward 60–70% in summer. Occupied rooms do best near 35–55% RH. A wider face still telegraphs a wet slab, a missed expansion gap, or a room that is left dry all January.
What is the difference between Grade AB and Grade ABC on wide plank?
Grade AB is the quieter grain, with tight figure and few marks. On a 9¼ or 10¼ inch face that reads as one calm field. Grade ABC keeps knots and tonal shift in the same 3/4 inch build and the same UV finish. Both take the included stain match.
Can wide plank be glued or floated on condo concrete?
Yes. Glue-down gives a solid feel when the slab is dry and the corporation allows an adhered floor. Floating over acoustic underlay is the path when the building wants an IIC/STC package. Nail-down is for plywood in a house, not for a concrete slab.
Do you offer free custom stain matching on wide plank?
Yes. Stain matching is included with the order, on 7½, 9¼, and 10¼ inch alike. The colour is mixed on European white oak, against millwork, paint, tile, or stone, and you approve it before the batch is locked.
How does 10¼ inch compare to 7½ inch visually?
A 10¼ inch face shows a longer run of grain and fewer seams. It wants a room that can hold that length. A 7½ inch face stays controlled beside short walls, mullions, and millwork. Both are 3/4 inch European white oak.
